A very low-key weekend

It's so nice having Annabelle back into bassoon these days. Yesterday we drove over to Kansas State, which is in Manhattan, KS, so she could participate in a day-long workshop with about a dozen high-school bassoonists from around the state as well as the K State Bassoon Ensemble. They spent several hours taking lessons and rehearsing in small groups, and then at the end of the day, they gave a recital, which culminated in them all getting together to play the K State fight song (Annabelle appears to the right of the conductor at about the 20-second mark as I try to move without jerking the camera too much):

Annabelle also enjoys finding cool bassoon ensembles on YouTube. Recently she turned me on to this really awesome quartet who play Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody":

(This probably means more if you're familiar with the original. It's amazing that they are able to take an instrument like the bassoon and carry an electric guitar riff.)

That Wildcat fight song reminds me of "Yankee Doodle Dandy." Way to go, AB!
