Blog365: Day 25

Nothing terribly interesting to report today. I attended a committee meeting this morning, ate myself silly at an Indian restaurant for lunch, and then had my hair restored to its natural color. Or perhaps I should say, I had my hair restored to its original natural color.

The only semi-interesting thing that happened today occurred while I was setting the table for supper. I was walking into the dining room carrying a bowl of grated parmesan cheese, when I apparently tripped on an air molecule and twisted my ankle. Down I went like a bag of rocks! I was OK except for a little lingering tenderness in the ankle. I managed, however, to dust the area all around me with a fine coating of parm. It will go down in Ginger's diary as the Great Cheese Miracle of 2008, and she scarfed up all she could while Fred ran for the vacuum cleaner. She continues to make pilgrimages to the holy site, hoping that perhaps a relic might still be lingering deep within the fibers of the rug.

Mental block

When we picked Ginger up from her breeder, one of the many extra items we were given was a nifty little folder with her shot record in it. I carried that folder back and forth to the vet's all last fall as she got the rest of her shots, but when it came time to board her for our trip to New York, the folder was nowhere to be found. At the last possible moment, I wound up having the vet fax a copy of the record to Fred at work, and that's what we took to the kennel as proof of immunization.

Fast forward to this year . . .

When I took her in for her shots this fall, I had the vet's office make me a new copy of her updated shot record since I knew we would be boarding her for a little weekend getaway we're leaving on tomorrow. Today though, when I was getting her stuff together in preparation for her stay at Doggy Camp (food? check. blanket? check. toys? check.), once again I couldn't find the stupid shot record! Fortunately, the kennel has a fax machine, so the vet was able to fax it directly out there.

What am I DOING with the shot records? Do I wander the house at night, tearing them up and burning the pieces? Our kennel is a very nice place, but I have to think maybe my subconscious mind is trying to avert us boarding her. Either that or the papers are buried somewhere on my desk.

We're off bright and early tomorrow morning for a fun weekend!

Expecting pitter patter of little feet

Yes, we have decided to add on to our family, and no, it's not what you're thinking. Meet Ginger, our new Australian terrier puppy:

We sat the kids down tonight to deliver the happy news, but we haven't told the cat yet. Poor furry guy has no idea what's in store for him.

We will be driving down to Chattanooga, Tennessee, on Saturday to pick Ginger up and bring her home. So those of you who were getting tired of cat pictures can now look forward to puppy pictures!
