Royal party

We had a great time tonight at the party thrown by our Dutch friends in honor of Queen Beatrix's birthday!





In fact, we had such a marvelous time that we tried to bring some of the festivities home to Harvey:

Truly superior again (and again)

Remember earlier in the month when Annabelle took her saxophone solo to the regional solo and ensemble competition and got a superior rating? Well, the same thing happened again today at state! We weren't able to go over for this competition, but here's a video of her performance at regionals:



And, as if that weren't enough, the women's acapella ensemble also got a superior rating! One of the dads shot this video:

Rapunzel is in the house

The drama banquet is tomorrow night, and this year the theme is "Disney." Annabelle has chosen to be Rapuzel from Tangled after she cut her hair:



I think we did a pretty good job turning 2 formals from the thrift shop into a gown fit for a princess:

Last supper (academic anyway)

Tonight was the final academic banquet of Annabelle's high school days. Here she is with her certificate:

One of the highlights of her senior year has been acting as a sponsor for the JROTC program. Here she is with LTC Black, who runs the program:

There must just be something in the air this weekend--lots of handsome men in uniform and beautiful girls in lovely dresses. First Mike and Sarah kicked off the weekend Friday night with Mike's dining out for AFROTC:

Meanwhile back in Kansas City, Annabelle was invited to sing the national anthem in front of 400 guests at the Sustainment Ball:







And then last night, Annabelle and her friend Dylan had a fabulous time at the JROTC military ball:

Mike competed in the Krispy Kreme challenge today, in which you run 2 miles, eat a dozen donuts, and run 2 miles back. I'm not sure which part would kill me quicker. Here he is enjoying his donuts:
